The Groundwater Research Laboratory, located in the Oak Creek Building on the Oregon State campus, is involved in groundwater testing and research with an emphasis on clean up of sites contaminated by radionuclides and chlorinated solvents.
The lab, which features sophisticated equipment to detect a wide variety of contaminants in groundwater, concentrates on in situ aquifer characterization technologies, including the novel single-well "push-pull" method, which consists of the controlled injection of a prepared test solution into a single well followed by the extraction of the test solution/groundwater mixture from the same well. The test is being applied at a variety of contaminated sites.
