Engineering solutions for social, environmental, and human needs
Humanitarian engineering involves applying science and engineering knowledge to fulfill basic human needs in underserved communities, such as clean water, abundant food, renewable energy, housing, medical care, and economic opportunities.
As a humanitarian engineering student at OSU, you'll have opportunities to join service-learning trips led by our highly experienced faculty to low-resource communities in the U.S. and abroad to develop engineering-based solutions.
In addition to technical skills, you'll also develop an interdisciplinary mindset that may extend beyond engineering to consider complex social, cultural, economic, and environmental factors when contemplating potential solutions.
