Have you ever wanted to create something fun and unique?
HWeekend is your opportunity! This hardware development competition brings students of all levels and majors together with industry and faculty mentors to create something new — all packed into an intense weekend of activity.
HWeekend is a free event that is held during fall, winter, and spring terms, and is sponsored by the College of Engineering, College of Business, and InnovationX. Students work together in teams to create a marketable project they can demonstrate and pitch to judges at the end of the weekend.
Unlike other weekend events, this one will involve all areas of design, including mechanical, electrical, and programming and business. Some projects will also involve art, music, science or whatever else you want to do.
Here are a few stories, including videos, about past events: Business and engineering students create gadgets and gizmos, Students ‘Show’em What They Got!’ at HWeekend, New Hardware Weekend Expands Student Experiences , Engineering Students Rock the Rockwell Collins Sponsored HWeekend, Creating Wearable Technology in a Weekend, OSU Event Brings Together Engineering and Business Students.
The Weekend
HWeekend is a 30-hour event; participants arrive on Saturday morning and by Sunday afternoon, you'll present your final ideas and prototypes.
You can work alone or in small groups. Participants do not need to stay the entire time and may come and go as desired, but there are only 30 hours to complete your project!
Food and most electronics are provided for the program, but those who are able to should plan to bring their own laptops and any tools they are already familiar with. Participants have access to cutting edge tools including 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics, tablets, computers, and more!
