To get connected with fellow classmates, faculty, and professionals. Gain skills and learn about the industry culture.

On the day of the event (Sept. 15th), we will provide a small breakfast spread in the conference room in the morning as well as provide lunch through the hotel. Any meals needed before or after breakfast and lunch on the 16th will need to be provided by the student.

The Washington Square Embassy Suites is located at 9000 SW Washington Square Rd, Tigard, Oregon, 97223 (503-644-4000). To view a map with directions, click here. Parking at the hotel is free, but parking at the building next door is not.

Use the luncheon and your breaks to network with other presenters.

Some companies may be recruiting. Should a company not be recruiting, use this as an opportunity to learn about their culture, so you can make an informed decision in the future.

Preparation

The Career Dev Center hosted a special workshop on how to navigate and prepare for the Showcase. Please refer to this slide deck and a quick video for more details.

The Student Portal ​​​​​offers a variety of tools and resources designed to enhance various aspects of student life.

  • Upload a resume
  • Research the companies beforehand and come prepared to ask questions. Check out our virtual booth to see what companies will be attending.
  • Make an appointment with College of Engineering Career Services. They can help sharpen your resume, improve your interviewing skills, and even give wardrobe tips.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile.

  • Bring some hard copy resumes (just in case). In the afternoon, the breakouts are often 1:1 or small group conversations. If an employer interests you, consider applying before the event.
  • This webinar on how to prepare to meet a company might be helpful.
  • You can view recordings from previous showcases. They offer valuable insights from helpful alumni and employers.

  • Dress in business casual
  • Come prepared to talk and ask questions
  • Follow up with the industry reps on LinkedIn, thanking them for their presentation. If you applied for an opening, mention which position you applied for.
