I'm part of few clubs including Sustainable Solutions, Ecological Engineering Student Society, and Climbing Club (EESS). In my free time I'm either crafting, climbing, or sitting in a hammock. I love to make the 3 hour drive out to Smith Rock to spend a weekend climbing with friends.
What I love most about my major is that it demonstrates how we can work with nature to solve problems. Nature knows what it's doing so we should take advantage of that in a positive way to help ourselves and the natural world.
My advice for incoming students is to do things even if they scare you. The best way to get over a fear is by doing it. Go climbing, go to a concert alone, go on a white water rafting trip, talk to the cool person next to you in class, learn how to skateboard. Embarrassment, fear, and failure are all things to learn from and replace with positive experiences and skills!
