About
Biography
Hi, I’m Erin! I am pursuing a double degree in Nuclear Engineering and Sustainability.
In my free time I like to go outdoors, read, write, and listen to my CD collection. I especially enjoy hiking and biking in the Corvallis area, and I’m trying to learn guitar (again). Last year I participated in the COE LEAP leadership program, during which time I connected with mentors in engineering fields and planned an activity with the goal of encouraging high school students to get involved in nuclear engineering. This year I am participating in the College of Agricultural Sciences’ Beginning Research program with a project on equity and innovation in STEM education. I’m also part of the OSU American Nuclear Society chapter. When I graduate, I'm hoping to work in licensing, consulting, or at a cleanup or waste management site.
My advice for incoming students is to connect with your professors and ask them for help whenever you need it. Send them emails until they respond, and take advantage of tutoring and office hours! Everyone learns at their own pace. What I like most about Nuclear Engineering is the opportunity to contribute to advancing nuclear power’s safety and sustainability, for a future of emission-free energy.
