About
Biography
I’m currently involved in Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Reaching Our Opportunities Through Stem (ROOTS), and the Society of Scholarly Sistas on campus. I’m also interning with a wastewater surveillance program, where I help with data collection for flow rates and filtration for pathogens found in wastewater, including COVID-19, monitoring in Oregon counties.
Outside of academics, I love trying new hobbies and learning creative skills. Right now, I’m learning how to embroider, watercolor, make pottery, and fish. On the weekends, I enjoy hiking and going on spontaneous adventures filled with car karaoke. A fun fact about me is that I’ve been kissed by a beluga whale!
I’m passionate about growing both personally and professionally, and I hope to continue working in STEM while making a positive impact in my community. One piece of advice I live by is: “The mindset you carry is the life you create.” I believe that having confidence, resilience, and a positive outlook can shape your experiences and help you achieve your goals.
The COE websites I find most helpful are the club catalog and the academic support website. The club catalog provides a list of the different engineering-based clubs at OSU, which helps students discover activities they may be interested in joining and find a sense of community on campus. Another useful resource is the academic support website, where students can access peer tutoring, writing support, and the Academic Success Center. It also includes workshops and strategies designed to help students succeed academically.
