Lee Cheatham received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Oregon State University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering at Washington State University. After obtaining his Ph.D. at Carnegie-Mellon University, Cheatham joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for seventeen years working as a senior research engineer and managing groups including PNNL’s Computer Science Department. As a manager of the Demand Activated Manufacturing Project, Cheatham created and managed the largest of the joint DOE/Industry projects under the AMTEXTM initiative. While at PNNL, Cheatham was also an adjunct assistant professor in electrical engineering at Washington State University. Upon leaving PNNL, he became Vice President of Worldwide Product Engineering at Ameritech Library Services and afterwards created a startup company called The Strategic Projects Group. He is currently the Executive Director of Washington Technology Center, a technology-based economic development agency.
