Brian K. Paul, professor of manufacturing engineering, was elected to the SME College of Fellows.
The honor recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the social, technological, and educational aspects of the manufacturing profession over 20 or more years of service.
After an illustrious 30-year career at Oregon State University, R. Logen Logendran, professor of industrial engineering, is set to retire in September.
The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers has awarded Harriet B. Nembhard the title of fellow. Nembhard is the Eric R. Smith Professor of Engineering and head of the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Teamwork comes naturally to Mary Jacobsen, an Oregon State University gymnast and computer science student in the College of Engineering.

Although Tom Weller’s degrees are all in electrical engineering, he was not one of those kids who grew up taking apart electronics.
“I grew up cutting grass and painting houses,” Weller said of his Midwestern upbringing in Battle Creek, Michigan, known as “Cereal City,” the birthplace and headquarters of Kellogg’s.
Attending the world’s largest gathering of women technologists was transformational for Stephanie Hughes, a computer science undergraduate. But it wasn’t enough for her.
“I was just one person and I wanted to make sure other women at Oregon State had that experience,” said Hughes who is the president of Oregon State’s women’s chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM-W OSU).

Jose Reyes, professor emeritus of nuclear engineering at Oregon State University and founder of NuScale Power, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Reyes, on the faculty of OSU’s College of Engineering for 30 years, was one of 99 new members elected this year, each one of the world’s most accomplished engineers.
You need a scorecard to keep track of Masoud Ghodrat Abadi’s accomplishments since he arrived at Oregon State in 2014 to start his doctoral work in transportation engineering. Topping his own list is the Eno Fellowship that he earned last spring, an honor bestowed on just 20 graduate students in the entire country annually by the Eno Center for Transportation. The Eno Center is the nation’s preeminent transportation policy and professional development organization.
In early April 2016, Caitlyn Clark, a graduate student in mechanical engineering, learned that she had won a fellowship sponsored by Avangrid, a U.S. subsidiary of Iberdrola, a multinational Spanish electric utility. What she didn’t know was that the queen of Spain would hand her the award.
