Danielle M. Safonte, M.I.S., Ed.D., is an instructor and course designer for the College of Engineering’s computer science program. Safonte has a background in computer engineering and information technology and has been an instructor in higher education for over 10 years with extensive online education experience. Safonte has worked in higher education since 2006, mostly in various technical roles, including systems and database administration for various departments across multiple campuses for the CUNY system.
Since 2019, Safonte has been an instructor with the School of EECS. Currently teaching CS391 - Society and Ethics in Computer Science and CS340 - Introduction to Databases, as well as working on course development, course improvement, and program quality standards for the school.
Safonte holds QM Teaching Online training certification and is a certified Quality Matters peer reviewer. In addition, Safonte has developed a course that earned a Quality Matters certification. Her research aims to create an online learning framework to improve nontraditional learners' retention, satisfaction, and success in online higher education programs.
