College of Engineering Scholarship Information

The College of Engineering is pleased to have the ability to award scholarships to any student pursuing a degree within the College of Engineering. All scholarships are held within Oregon State's scholarship application system, ScholarDollars. Therefore, in order to learn more and apply to scholarship opportunities that are available to you, you must visit ScholarDollars.

Scholarship deadlines in ScholarDollars may vary, but the general College of Engineering Application closes on February 15 each year. Therefore, to be considered for scholarship funding for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year, you must submit your application by February 15, 2022.

INCOMING STUDENTS

As an incoming student, you are automatically considered for some of the College of Engineering's merit-based scholarships based on your Oregon State Admissions Application. However, once you are admitted, we encourage all incoming students to apply for College of Engineering scholarships via ScholarDollars. 

COE Dean's Scholarship

Dean's Scholarship Initial Eligibility Criteria

The College of Engineering Dean’s Scholarship is a competitive, merit-based $2,000/academic year scholarship offered to both in state and out of state students. Students are automatically considered for this admissions-based scholarship if they meet the minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Must be admitted to OSU on or prior to February 15th
  • Must be entering into OSU in the Fall term
  • Must be first year College of Engineering student
  • Must have an incoming, unweighted GPA of 3.95 or higher
Dean's Scholarship Renewal Criteria

The College of Engineering Dean’s Scholarship is renewable. In order to be eligible for renewal, students must maintain the COE Dean’s Scholarship renewal eligibility criteria.

  • Must maintain continued enrollment in the College of Engineering
  • Must maintain full time, continuous enrollment (12 credits or more per term)
  • Must maintain an OSU cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher

COE Student Success Initiative (SSI) Scholarship

Student Success Initiative (SSI) Scholarship Initial Eligibility Criteria

The College of Engineering Student Success Initiative’s (SSI) Scholarship is a competitive $2,000/academic year scholarship that is both merit and need-based. Students are automatically considered for this admissions-based scholarship if they meet the minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Must be admitted to OSU on or prior to February 15th
  • Must be entering into OSU in the Summer or Fall term
  • Must be first year College of Engineering student
  • Must have an incoming, unweighted GPA of 3.50 or higher
  • Must be an Oregon Resident
  • Preference: First Generation College Students

The College of Engineering Student Success Initiative’s (SSI) Scholarship is renewable. In order to be eligible for renewal, continuing students must maintain the COE Dean’s Scholarship renewal criteria.

  • Must maintain continued enrollment in the College of Engineering
  • Must maintain full time, continuous enrollment (12 credits or more per term)
  • Must maintain an OSU cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher

External Scholarships

External Scholarships for Incoming Students

OSU ScholarDollars includes an integrated, vetted search engine for over 10,000 scholarships that are sponsored and managed by individuals and organizations that are not affiliated with Oregon State University.

In OSU ScholarDollars, each student in the College of Engineering will see a personalized list of external scholarships for which they appear to meet the basic eligibility criteria, as well as links to websites where they can learn more about each opportunity. 

Students are responsible for verifying the validity and accuracy of all information provided before deciding whether to apply for any of the listed scholarship opportunities.

NOTE: Students must have been admitted to OSU , have an active ONID account, and set up DUO to be able to log into the system and submit applications. CONTINUING STUDENTS

The College of Engineering provides competitive scholarship opportunities to continuing students. All continuing students will need to submit a College of Engineering Scholarship Application via ScholarDollars in order to be maximize their scholarship opportunities.

  • Must maintain continued enrollment in the College of Engineering
  • Must maintain full time, continuous enrollment (12 credits or more per term)
  • Must maintain an OSU cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher

COE Degree Completion Scholarships

Completion Scholarships

The College of Engineering offers completion scholarships for students who are within three terms of completing their degree. Awards will be given to College of Engineering students who are in good academic standing and who are one to three terms away from graduation, yet are at risk of not completing their degree for financial reasons. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, financial need, likelihood of completing the degree as a result of the scholarship, and probable time to graduation.

If You Are A Student:

To be considered for a degree completion scholarship, students can apply via the College of Engineering Completion Scholarship Application in ScholarDollars. Students will be reviewed by the college and award amounts may vary based a student's need and available funding. This is a one-time, non-renewable award.

If You Are A Faculty or Staff Member:

As a faculty or staff member, you have the opportunity to nominate a student(s) who is in good academic standing and who are one to three terms away from graduation, yet are at risk of not completing their degree for financial reasons. You may use the Completion Scholarship Qualtrics Form to submit your nomination.


 

School and Program-Specific Scholarships

School/Program-Specific Scholarships for Continuing Students

OSU engineering students are encouraged to complete the College of Engineering Scholarship Application, which is available annually, from November 1- February 15 (11:59pm), within the OSU ScholarDollars scholarship application system.

Your application will be reviewed by both the central College of Engineering and your specific program to see if you are eligible for scholarship funds for the upcoming academic year. School and Program-Specific scholarship evaluation is based on a holistic review. Key categories in the scholarship evaluation are as follows:

  • Student Financial Need
  • Student Scholarly Achievement
  • Student Leadership and/or Involvement
  • Student Employment and/or Volunteer Work

NOTE: Students must have been admitted to OSU and have an active ONID account to be able to log into the system and submit applications. (For more instructions on how to set up your ONID account, please visit http://onid.oregonstate.edu)

COE Emergency Funding

Emergency Funding

The College of Engineering is able to provide limited emergency financial support to current COE students who are unable to meet essential expenses due to a temporary or unexpected hardship that threatens their ability to remain enrolled in their degree program.

The College of Engineering Emergency Funding Application is open year-round in ScholarDollars. Students can access this resource by logging into ScholarDollars and completing this application.

The College of Engineering awards emergency funding on a rolling basis. If a student is selected to receive emergency funding, they will be notified via ScholarDollars. However, students that are not selected will not be notified. All application submissions are kept on file for future funding consideration, if/when it is available.

ECAMPUS SCHOLARSHIPS

The College of Engineering provides scholarship resources to Ecampus students each term. COE Ecampus students can be considered for scholarships via the COE/Ecampus Scholarship Application in ScholarDollars.

2021-2022 COE/Ecampus Scholarship Application Dates: 

  • Application for Winter Scholarships: October 11, 2021 – November 5, 2021

  • Application for Spring Scholarships: January 17, 2022 – February 4, 2022

  • Application for Summer Scholarships: April 18, 2022 – May 6, 2022

2022-2023 COE/Ecampus Scholarship Application Dates: 

  • Application for Summer Scholarships: July 18, 2022 – August 5, 2022

COE Scholarship Forms & Documents

  • COE Scholarship Appeal Form : The COE Scholarship Appeal Form is available to any scholarship recipient who needs to document and communicate any extenuating circumstances and/or hardships related to maintaining their scholarship funding (i.e. inability to maintain renewal criteria for any reason, a break in continuous enrollment for any reason, etc.)
