Biography

William Tebeau received his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1948 as the first African-American graduate from Oregon State College. Mr. Tebeau then pursued a license as a Civil Engineer on his own time and was later hired by the Oregon State Highway Department. In 1970, he was granted the Teacher of the Year for his part-time work as an Instructor at Chemeketa Community College.

Mr. Tebeau also had the honor of receiving Employee of the Year by the Oregon State Employees Association in 1971. He retired from the State Highway Department in 1984 after 36 years, leaving an exceptional impact on the department.
