Biography
Commander William Peterson, USN, was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program at OSU in 1984, graduating with a bachelor’s in nuclear engineering and naval science. He also holds a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. His first deployment was on the submarine USS SKIPJACK, and he has served on USS SCRANTON and USS OLYMPIA. In 1998, he was assigned to the Director, Navy Staff as the deputy branch head for Staff Operations and Special Events, and in 2000 as a Chief of Naval Operations Research Fellow to the Center for Naval Analyses. He has served as Commanding Officer, Naval Submarine Support Center Norfolk and is currently on the staff of the Naval Inspector General in Washington, D.C. Peterson’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medals, the Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medals, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various other medals.
