Biography

Waldo "Skip" Magnuson earned his MS and PhD degrees in EE from OSU in 1963 and 1966, respectively, in the area of electronic circuits. Following this he indulged his love of flying by attaining his private pilot license, followed by his commercial, instrument, and flight instructor certificates. From 1975 to 1990 he was a researcher at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in the area of computer-aided design. During this time he was the first LLNL employee to be awarded a highly contested John S. Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. He used this fellowship to study at Imperial College, London, and to become a Liaison Scientist with the Office of US Naval Research. Dr. Magnuson received the College of Engineering Distinguished Alumni Award in 1995.
