Biography

Before graduating from OSU, Steve Meek served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. He began his career as a design engineer for Bonneville Power Administration, before joining Osborne Electric Company, later known as OECO. During a 33-year career at OECO, Meek served as President and Chief Executive Officer, successfully guiding the company from its original Portland site to a new expanded facility in Milwaukie. A strong supporter of the MECOP internship program, Meek was very active in community affairs, including the American Electronics Association, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, and the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Oregon City. He was a great grandson of Oregon pioneer Joseph L. Meek and his Nez Perce wife, known as Virginia. Mr. Meek passed away on January 14, 2004.
