Scott Ashford : Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers - 1998

Scott Ashford's well-rounded career since graduating from our Civil Engineering program in 1983 includes receiving his PhD in geotechnical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and seven years of industrial experience at McClelland Engineers in Houston and CH2M Hill in San Francisco. Since joining the Division of Structural Engineering at the University of California at San Diego in 1996, Dr. Ashford has generated more than one million dollars worth of research related to geotechnical aspects of earthquake engineering. He is very active in the profession and in outreach programs, and he thanks our Profs. Ted Vinson and J.R. Bell for starting him on his outstanding career in "dirt mechanics."
