Biography

Robert Cess received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from OSU in 1955, MS from Purdue in 1956, and PhD from University of Pittsburgh in 1959. He is an internationally acknowledged leader in the fields of climate change and atmospheric radiation transfer. His work has greatly increased understanding of the Earth' s climate, including the greenhouse effect and global warming. Dr. Cess has been named "Leading Professor" at the SUNY Stony Brook campus, a title shared by only a few. In 1989, he was chosen for NASA' s highest scientific award, the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal. Dr. Cess received the E. B. Lemon Award from the OSU Alumni Association in 1991.
