In addition to a bachelor’s degree from OSU, Dick Evans earned a master’s degree in management from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Evans spent 27 years at Kaiser Aluminum in a variety of U.S.-based and international postings.
In 1997, he joined Alcan Incorporated, a worldwide leader in aluminum and packaging. His career with this Montreal-based company has included a succession of management roles and global leadership responsibilities. Evans has overseen all four of Alcan’s business groups; has participated in the company’s strategic governance; and has managed company mergers and acquisitions. From 2002 to 2006, he served as executive vice president and chief operations officer, then became president and CEO. In 2007, Alcan and Rio Tinto Aluminum merged to create Rio Tinto Alcan, and Evans now serves as chief executive and is a member of the board.
Evans holds directorships of Bowater, Inc. and the International Aluminum Institute, and he has served other organizations and companies in similar roles. He was previously inducted to the OSU Academy of Distinguished Engineers in 2001.
