Biography

By the time Neal Spencer graduated, he had also completed a two-year tour in the U.S. Army. His first job was with the Army Corps of Engineers, working on the construction of the Bonneville Dam. In 1948, he joined Morrison-Knudsen Company, where he worked for the next 34 years. In 1961, he became General Manager of the company's Canadian subsidiary. In 1964, he moved on to become the General Manager of the company's Dutch operations. During this time, he led many projects, including pipelines for the North Sea oil reserves.

He advanced to Director of International Operations in 1972. Under Spencer's leadership, Morrison-Knudsen completed projects such as the 1200-mile Inga-Shaba Transmission Line in Zaire, the Correjon Coal Mine Development in Columbia, and the King Khalid Military City in Saudi Arabia. He has been active with OSU and Phi Delta Theta. Both his children attended OSU. In 1996, Spencer and his sister, Mary Jane Everist, endowed the Clyde H. Spencer Memorial Scholarship fund in honor of their father.
