Prior to joining Garmin AT (previously UPS Aviation Technologies) in 1988, John Macnab worked for Caterpillar. During his 20-year career with Garmin, he has held a variety of positions, starting as a mechanical engineer and moving on to production engineering supervisor and manufacturing engineering manager. Macnab was promoted to manufacturing division manager and a member of the company’s senior staff in 1992. He has served as general manager since 2000 and played a key leadership role in negotiations and the acquisition of UPS Aviation Technologies by Garmin International in 2003. Since the acquisition, Macnab has overseen a significant expansion of the Salem operation at the Salem Airport. Garmin is a worldwide provider of navigation, communication, and information devices, most of which are enabled by global positioning system (GPS) technology. The company designs, develops, manufactures, and markets a diverse family of hand-held, portable, and fixed-mount devices.
