Biography
Harry Belknap was born in Corvallis in 1892. His engineering career, ranging from educator to government advisor, resulted in travels to Europe and North Africa as well as extensively in the US. He served on the OSC faculty from 1912 to 1923 and received an honorary doctorate in 1940. He served as a 1st Lieutenant in the 103rd Artillery in WWI and as a Colonel in the Air Force in WWII. Between wars, in industry he worked for Westinghouse Electric for 18 years, and after WWII he directed scientific personnel during the development of the hydrogen bomb while working for the Atomic Energy Commission. His retirement took him to Denver and an appointment to the Mayor's Cabinet. Dr. Belknap passed away several years ago.
