Jean Watson completed her chemical engineering degree at OSU in 1971 and joined Chevron in 1972. She directed cross-functional and cross-disciplinary teams as lead of many changes and reorganization efforts at Chevron and was actively involved in the company's recruiting efforts. Watson demonstrated very successful service as a hydroprocessing engineer, refinery process engineer, supply and distribution coordinator, analytical support of overseas chemical affiliates, and chief process engineer.
She was appointed manager of Chevron Research Technology in 1985, manager of Downstream Applications/Shared Service Planning in 1989, and became Manager of Refining Central Technology in 1997, one of the most important positions in the conglomerate's refining business. Watson a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Board. She was previously elected to the College of Engineering’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers in 1998.
