Biography

Jay Compton received his bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management in 1979 from OSU. He then became involved in his family’s corporation, JC Compton Companies, and at age 29 became president of both the Salem Road and Driveway Company and the River Bend Sand and Gravel Company. Compton was the President of River Bend Sand and Gravel when it was purchased by CPM Development Corporation, a division of Oldcastle Materials Inc. Upon this acquisition, Compton became the Vice President of Oldcastle Materials. He serves as the Chairman of the Asphalt Pavers Committee of the National AGC. Prior to this he was president of the Asphalt Paving Association of Oregon.

Compton is viewed as an outstanding business leader in Oregon and representative of the OSU CEM program. He was previously elected to the College of Engineering Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers in 1998.
