Biography

James Plasker earned a BS in Civil Engineering in 1971, and an MS in 1973. He is now the executive director of the 7000-member American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing following 26 years of technical, managerial, and executive leadership experience with the U.S. Geological Survey, including six years in the Senior Executive Service. He is an internationally recognized expert in the area of surveying and mapping, now known as "geomatics."

Mr. Plasker has held many volunteer positions within professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, and is the U.S. representative to the International Federation of Surveyors. He is active within ABET, and he has generously donated to OSU classes and workshops related to his profession.
