After receiving his degrees at OSU, Jack Lentsch went on to earn a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from New York University in 1973. He moved into the field of health physics and nuclear engineering early in his career and became a licensed Professional Engineer, a Certified Health Physicist, and a Senior Reactor Operator. Lentsch was a senior engineering manager for the design, construction, start-up and operation of the Trojan Nuclear Plant and spent 20 years with Portland General Electric before moving to Hanford, Washington in the early 1990s. At Hanford, Lentsch has managed a variety of projects related to the cleanup and management of the radioactive waste storage tanks. He received commendations from the Department of Energy for two such projects. Lentsch is currently manager of the double-shell tank integrity project for the CH2M HILL-Hanford Group. He has held elected offices in both the Health Physics Society and the American Nuclear Society.
