Biography

Craig Dutton graduated from the University of Washington before receiving an MS in Mechanical Engineering from OSU in 1975. In 1979, he earned his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he is currently Associate Head of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and Professor of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. A leading researcher in Combustion and Propulsion, Energy Systems and Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, and Heat Transfer, he also served on the faculty at Texas A&M for five years before returning to Illinois.

An ASME Fellow and Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Dutton has received many honors and awards including the Five-Year Effective Teacher Award, the Andersen Consulting Award for Excellence in Advising, and the Engineering Council Advisor List for Outstanding Advising.
