Biography
Howard Yang received both masters and PhD degrees in electrical engineering at Oregon State University. After graduating, Yang worked in the area of mixed-signal design at National Semiconductor, Chips & Technologies Inc. and Pericom Semiconductor. He returned to China in 1994 and joined Shanghai Belling Co., where he was the founding director of New Product Development Department. He also co-founded Newave Semiconductor, China’s first IC design company to successfully commercialize mixed-signal communication VLSI products.
Yang held positions as vice president of IDT, general manager of IDT-Newave, and is now chairman and CEO of Montage Technology. He is a recipient of several awards, including 2002 IEEE CAS Industrial Pioneer Award and a 2003 Magnolia Award, the highest honor from Shanghai Municipal Government. Yang was previously elected to the College of Engineering Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers in 2001.
