Biography

Howard Eberhart served on the faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley until 1974. With his expertise in structural engineering, Mr. Eberhart became a world-wide authority in biomechanics and a leader in the development of prosthetics. He conducted fundamental studies of human locomotion and other aspects relating to design of artificial limbs, beginning in 1945. Co-founder of the University of California Biomechanics Laboratory. Mr. Eberhart received many honors including election to membership of the National Academy of Engineering in 1977. He passed away in 1993.
