MS 1931 - CCE
"Prof." Holcomb began his teaching career at Oregon State College in 1920 and served as head of the Civil Engineering Department from 1953 until his retirement in 1966. He obtained his MS in Education. The Prof., in fact, served as mentor for some of our other award winners today. A "doer and mover," Prof. Holcomb' s local service included OSU faculty athletic representative to the NCAA and Corvallis city councilman. Very active within the profession, he rose from president of the Oregon Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers to president of the National ASCE organization in 1960 (one of two alumni with such recognition today). He is fondly remembered at OSU for his leadership, collegiality, and through his endowed Holcomb Scholarship Fund.
