At the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering, we foster the brilliance of students through transformational educational experiences and by involving them in the impactful research conducted by our faculty. Our students, faculty, staff, and alumni adhere to values important to a flourishing future by always (re)imagining, building, and testing better possibilities, ever guided by a sense of humanity.
Within these pages, you'll find information about our academic programs, research activities, partnerships with industry, extracurricular opportunities, and the diverse accomplishments of our entire community.
We strive for a climate in which everyone can enjoy and find fulfillment in their pursuits. Our highly collaborative culture and interdisciplinary approach allow us to foster a vibrant, smart, and dedicated community of scholars who advance research in six signature areas.
We offer ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering at the Corvallis campus and energy systems engineering undergraduate degree at the OSU-Cascades campus in Bend. We are growing specializations in humanitarian engineering, materials science, and aerospace engineering. We offer graduate degrees in mechanical engineering and industrial engineering and host the graduate degrees for the university's interdisciplinary materials science and robotics programs.
Time and again, our students, faculty, staff, and alumni tell us that what makes this school unique is the sense of happiness about our mission. This feeling stems from a culture of engineering as a platform to fulfill the potential within us all. Yes, we love engineering because we love making things and making them work well. We also love engineering because what we make allows everyone to thrive.
Our Commitment to Building a Diverse and Dynamic Community
The School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is a community that includes and values the voices of all people. We see diversity as a strength, a competitive advantage, and a moral imperative. We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse environment that is both equitable and inclusive.
We recognize the social barriers that have marginalized and excluded people and communities based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, socioeconomic background, age, disability, national origin and religion.
Within the school, we have an obligation to prepare our students for a diverse world. They need the capacity to become engaged citizens and engineers in order to contribute to local and international communities. We are committed to the equity of opportunities, and strive to promote and advance diverse communities.
We value and proactively seek genuine participation from these historically under-represented and underserved groups, and recognize them as an essential component of creating a welcoming and rich academic, intellectual and cultural environment for everyone.
At Oregon State University, we are a community that aspires to be collaborative, inclusive and caring. Our school works closely with OSU Diversity Resources to foster a welcoming environment for everyone.
