Expertise and Interests

Project management in Oregon’s Wastewater Surveillance program including facilitating relationships with wastewater utilities across Oregon and implementing best practices and quality assurance/quality control measures. Biomolecular identification of SARS-CoV-2, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in wastewater samples. Supervision, training, and collaboration with students in both laboratory and digital communication components of the program. Interested in the identification of other pathogens with potential impact to a community, such as those with antibiotic resistance genes. Interested in expanding collaborations with tribal and county public health agencies across Oregon to translate wastewater surveillance data into public health action.
