Biography

Matt Ruff is an assistant professor of practice at Oregon State University in the computer science cybersecurity program. Prior to joining Oregon State University, Matt worked in the Foreign Service for the U.S. Department of State as an information management technical specialist as well as in the U.S. Intelligence Community conducting technical and cyber operations. Before working for the U.S. government, Ruff worked for a large defense contractor, researching Internet of Things (IoT and Industrial IoT) device exploits using different methodologies including physical, close, and remote access.

Ruff earned his M.S. in cybersecurity analytics and operations and his B.S. in security and risk analysis from the Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include IoT and critical infrastructure.
