Biography

Associate Professor (Senior Research), November 2023-Present

Mark Galvin’s research interests include advanced nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, systems engineering, and reactor plant design.  He is currently working on the Sodium Flow Investigation Experiment (SoFIE) in support of a Generation IV sodium cooled reactor plant design effort.  
Prior to joining Oregon State University he served twenty years in the United States Navy as an enlisted reactor operator, submarine officer and then later as an engineering duty officer and Navy civilian at United States Navy Strategic Systems Programs.  He has over twenty-five years combined experience in nuclear power and nuclear weapons program development, life-cycle management, testing, and operations.
