Dr. Perez’s research interests lie on the hydrological and biogeochemical processes that control solute transport, fluid mixing, and reaction in subsurface environments. His research program integrates laboratory experiments, advanced imaging, computational fluid dynamic simulations, and reactive transport modeling to investigate how heterogeneity, multiphase flow conditions, and microbial activity influence fluid mixing, reaction kinetics, and contaminant transport and fate in groundwater and vadose zone systems.
