Lazaro J. Perez is an Assistant Professor of Water Resources Engineering in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University. Dr. Perez’s research focuses on the hydrological and biogeochemical aspects of subsurface porous materials, specifically in quantifying the impact of incomplete mixing of reactants on chemical reactions and contaminant transport. He also investigates bacterial transport and biofilm dynamics and their influence on fluid mixing, spanning scales from the pore to the field. His work integrates innovative experimental studies and advanced numerical modeling to improve the understanding of subsurface flow and reactive transport processes, relevant to applications in groundwater contamination remediation, aquifer storage and recovery management, and bioremediation strategies.
