Biography

Joseph Piacenza joined the College of Engineering (CoE) in 2021 to provide leadership to the college’s multidisciplinary capstone design series, where he is the faculty advisor for OSU’s Baja SAE and Global Formula Racing teams. Prior to this position, he held faculty appointments in mechanical engineering at institutions in both California and Florida, where he worked to develop novel capstone design curriculum surrounding collegiate engineering-based competitions, industry partnerships, and undergraduate research. Joseph’s research interests include the robust design of complex systems, advanced manufacturing methods, and product design and prototyping. In the CoE, Joseph continues to foster the learning by doing approach, while expanding opportunities for students outside of the College to get hands-on experience via capstone, regardless of discipline.
