Ingrid Scheel completed her master’s degree (2018) with a focus on engineering management. As an instructor she uses experiential methods that incorporate and innovate best practices through an engineering lens. Her work includes sensor and system design, prototype development and deployment, instrumentation, data acquisition and analysis, and reporting. Scheel has supported efforts to develop fiber optic sensors and sensing systems in industry since 2010.
She contributes to the International Society for Optics and Photonics as a conference chair, editor, and author. Scheel is the vice president of the Optical Society of America, Columbia Section and works to forge strong connections between industry and academic research.
