Biography

Hector A. Vergara, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University. Dr. Vergara received his M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University in 2005 and his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from University of Arkansas in 2012. He was an Instructor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Quito, Ecuador) between 2007 and 2009.

Dr. Vergara is a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS). At OSU since 2012. Dr. Vergara's research focuses on the application of operations research to problems in transportation, logistics and distribution, supply chain design and optimization, facility location, and network design.
