Biography

Devin McGlamery began a postdoctoral fellowship in the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering in the Chemey group during the spring of 2024. Prior to this he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Æsir Technologies inc. working on developing and optimizing aqueous zinc battery chemistries. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Montana State University in 2017. During this time, he worked for Professor Matthew J. Cook on methods to generate spiroketal fragments to arrive at the natural product spongistatin. Devin then received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Montana State University under the supervision of Professor Nicholas P. Stadie. His graduate studies explored the bottom-up synthesis of nanocrystalline graphitic systems, developed novel characterization techniques for the detection of ordered BC 3 chemical environments, and pioneered new synthesis methods to generate high boron content graphite as a free-standing bulk material. His work focuses on understanding material systems from the bottom up through systematic investigations of materials synthesis coupled with a wide array of complementary characterization techniques. The materials Devin studies have a common theme of providing unique solutions to energy storage and conversion problems ranging from electrode materials for next-generation batteries to the solid-state storage of chemical fuels.
