
Jay McQuillen received his BS in Civil Engineering in 1981 from the University of Iowa. He worked for Northern Engineering and testing before enrolling at OSU where he taught freshmen courses in construction engineering management while completing his MS. A registered professional engineer, Jay started his career with Granite Construction Company as a project engineer in 1986. He became Carson City Area Manager in 1990 and moved to Granite's Southern California Operations in 1992 where he is now regional manager with responsibilities for operations in five counties. Jay's civic involvement is considerable, including serving as current chair of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, and as a board member and past president of the YMCA of the Desert. He is an elder of his family's church and has served his local school district on a committee for school modernization. McQuillen serves as a state board member for the Associated General Contractors and as chair for the AGC/Caltrans District 8 liaison committee. He is senior vice president of the OSU Construction Education Foundation and a member of the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Board. He was inducted to the OSU Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers in 2000.
