Biography

George Bryan Cox received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri in 1919. A dedicated teacher, George taught at several high schools and at the Universities of Missouri and Illinois before moving to Oregon Agricultural College in 1927 for an appointment as professor of industrial arts and director of the engineering shops.

Featuring programs in industrial teacher education, production technology, and industrial engineering, the department received national recognition under his leadership. George was recognized by Epsilon Pi Tau with a Laureate Citation and Honorary Membership, as well as with Honorary Membership in the National Association of Industrial Teacher Education, a society he served as a trustee and vice president.

“GB” Cox served on the Corvallis City Council for many years, and he was the official photographer of Oregon State football games, producing the movies that the coaches used for training. George B. Cox passed away on March 28, 1973.
