After leaving Oregon State College, Gene Grant began his career that with posts at Sperry Gyroscope Company, the Air Force Cambridge Research Center, and W.L. Maxon Corporation. In 1954, he joined National Company, becoming their vice president of engineering. He went to Hughes Aircraft Company in 1961, serving as chief scientist for their Space Communications Group. After retiring in 1988, he consulted for Hughes until 1995. Mr. Grant has 11 patents in atomic beam frequency standards, radar circuits, microwave components, and laser technology. His honors and societies include IEEE Senior Member, American Men of Science, Who's Who in Engineering, Who's Who in the West, Sigma Xi, New York Academy of Sciences, and AAAS. He has served on Electrical and Computer Engineering's Industrial Advisory Board since 1995.
