Integrating ecological principles into engineering design

Biological and ecological engineers develop resilient, sustainable systems that integrate human activities into the natural environment. The graduate degree at Oregon State is a collaboration between the College of Engineering and the College of Agriculture, allowing for rich, interdisciplinary research.

The program focuses on professional development in the analysis of environmental systems, hydrology, and water resources. Research topics include biofuels, metabolic engineering, agrivoltaics, wastewater treatment, modeling biological systems, and more. Our faculty provide valuable mentorship to graduates entering this growing field.
