When should I apply?
Standard graduate admissions for the School of Civil and Construction Engineering are for fall term only. If you wish to be considered for financial support beginning in fall term, you must apply by December 31 of the previous year.
We do not accept applications for Winter or Spring starts unless the applicant has explicit approval of a CCE faculty member who will serve as the research advisor. Because such applications often fall outside of the typical review cycle, they will be handled on a case-by-case basis, and the review schedule will vary.
What are the minimum admission requirements?
The School does not require applicants to submit GRE scores as part of their application for the 2021-2022 cycle.
TOEFL or IELTS (for International Students): OSU requires an IBT TOEFL of at least 80 with sub-scores of at least 18, or, an IELTS of at least 6.5 with sub-scores of at least 6.0. See: gradschool.oregonstate.edu/admissions/international for details, and, for criteria for waiving this requirement.
What are my chances of admission and receiving financial support?
Admission is competitive – we receive around 400 applications each year, and, cannot admit all qualified applicants. We offer admission to less than half of all applicants, and, offer financial support to the top 10 percent, i.e. about 40 students each year. Students that are offered admission (particularly those receiving financial support) typically exceed the minimum requirements by a substantial amount.
When will I know if I have been admitted and if I will receive financial support?
Applications for a Fall start that are received by December 31 will normally be reviewed by late February or early March. After ranking the applications, we will invite the top domestic applicants for a campus visit occurring in late February or early March. We will then make final decisions on admission and financial support by April 15.
Please note that an acceptance for admission does not constitute an offer of financial support. Decisions regarding financial support are made after the admissions decision.

Can I receive conditional admission?
We will only offer conditional admission to applicants that have exceptional academic qualifications and that are fully funded by their government or by other external funding that includes English language training. Please see: gradschool.oregonstate.edu/admissions/international
I was offered admission but not financial support. Will I be able to get financial support when I enroll at OSU?
The chances of receiving financial support once you arrive are small. You must be prepared to be self-supporting, or, funded from sources other than OSU.
I applied for an M.S. degree, but I was offered admission for the M.Eng. degree. Why?
If we cannot offer you funding for an M.S. degree, we prefer to admit you for the M.Eng. degree. This is a coursework only option that can be completed in 12 months, whereas an M.S. degree typically takes at least 18 months. Students who perform well in their M.Eng. coursework may be allowed to change to an M.S. with faculty approval.
