IE3 Global Internships
IE3 Global Internships (formerly Global Graduates - The Oregon International Internship Program) was created by the Oregon University System to provide university students in the Pacific Northwest with an improved understanding of global issues and equip them with professional experience and international competence. Since the beginning of the program in 1995, over 1200 interns have been placed in at least 82 countries worldwide. Students earn academic credit on their home campuses while abroad on their internship. IE3 Global Internships arranges placement and provides pre-departure orientation, international health insurance, learning tools, monitoring and support. A program fee is charged in lieu of tuition. The program fee includes academic credit (up to 12 quarter credit hours the first term). Most forms of financial aid can be applied toward the costs of an internship. Engineering internships are available.

IAESTE
IAESTE is the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience. IAESTE has two different internship programs available to students currently enrolled at American universities. The IAESTE Placement Program matches U.S. university students majoring in technical fields with paid internships abroad.
Positions are available in industry, research institutes and universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments. Most placements are for 8-12 weeks during the summer, but fall and longer-term placements are also available.

DAAD - Summer Research Internship in Germany
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students from the United States, Canada and the UK in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. It offers unique opportunities for undergraduate students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of 2 to 3 months during the summer. RISE interns are matched with doctoral students whom they assist and who serve as their mentors. The working language will be English. All scholarship holders receive stipends from the DAAD to help cover living expenses, while partner universities and research institutes provide housing assistance.
RISE hopes to accept as many students as possible for a summer internship in Germany. However this is a scholarship program and there are only limited funds available. Each year we have to turn away many students that apply to this program. In 2011 we hope to have 300 interns.

School of Life Sciences Lausanne, Switzerland
The Summer Research Program in Life Sciences and Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), will offer an intensive research training opportunity to 25 undergraduate students interested in research careers in life sciences. Each student will be matched with a specific laboratory based on the student's interest and background. The student will be working as a member of the research group for a period of eight weeks. Once admitted to the laboratory, the student will work under the supervision of the lab head or a member of his/her research group (graduate student or postdoctoral fellow) on a specific project related to the laboratory's research programs.
Requirements: Must be enrolled in a degree program in basic, engineering, or life sciences and planning on pursuing a career in the life sciences. * Must be in good standing with a GPA equivalent to a "B" grade or higher and should have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework by the summer of the academic year. Pasteur Foundation Summer Internship Program, France
The Pasteur Foundation created a summer internship program for American undergraduates who wish to pursue a scientific career.
Located in the heart of Paris, the Institut Pasteur is one of the world's leading biomedical research organizations. With 130+ laboratories and 2,500 people on campus, it is a vibrant, international community devoted to basic scientific research primarily in the area of infectious disease.
The Pasteur Foundation Summer Internship Program provides U.S. undergraduates with the rare opportunity to conduct summer research at the Institut Pasteur. The foundation’s goal is to encourage students in the pursuit of a scientific career and to expose them to an international laboratory experience.
Requirements: Applicants must 1) be undergraduates with an excellent academic record and a strong interest in biosciences and biomedical research (prior lab experience is highly recommended); 2) have completed three full years (six semesters) of college course work by the time the internship commences; and 3) not have received an undergraduate degree at the time of application. Knowledge of French or desire to learn it is advisable. This program is open to U.S. citizens only.

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals - Internship in Germany
The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals is a scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange. It is designed to give participants understanding for everyday life, education, and professional training in Germany and the United States. In the US the program is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Department of State under the authority of the Fulbright-Hays Act of 1961. In Germany the program is funded through the Administration of the Bundestag and administered in Germany by InWEnt: Capacity Building International.
The CBYX for Young Professionals program is intended primarily for young adults in business, technical, vocational, and agricultural fields, though applicants from all fields are encouraged to apply. 75 Americans and 75 Germans participate in the program each year. For American participants, the 12-month program begins in late July, and consists of 2 months of intensive German language training in Germany, 4 months classroom instruction at a German University or College of Applied Sciences, and a 5-month internship in their career field.
Qualifications : US Citizenship or permanent residency. Age: 18-24 at the start of the program. Language: German language proficiency is not required but strongly recommended. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required for application. Applicants should have completed general coursework in their target internship field either at the community college or university level at the time of application. Work Experience: At least several short-term or one long-term experiences in the applicant's professional track. Experience may either have been paid or volunteer. Other: Ideal candidates have clear career goals, good communication skills and exhibit flexibility and diplomacy

NanoJapan
This is an extension of the highly successful and nationally recognized PIRE NanoJapan Program. Our program design, incorporating the culture and language classes, has been nationally recognized as an innovative and effective model for international STEM research programs by the 2008 IIE Heiskell Award. The NanoJapan program will select up to twelve (12) first and second-year undergraduate engineering or physics students who will be placed in a Japanese research lab. THIS PROGRAM STARTS IN MID-MAY, YOU WOULD NEED TO NOT TAKE ANY SPRING TERM CLASSES TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.
