The College of Engineering trains a unique class of individuals who acquire a strong technical foundation coupled with well-developed leadership skills and a broad worldview. Our students attain a breadth of knowledge in engineering fundamentals and a depth of technical expertise in a chosen discipline. They learn the value of and gain practice in clear communication and collaborative working processes. They become locally conscious, globally aware leaders who think critically and question assumptions. When they graduate, they join a community of high achievers whose collective efforts solve seemingly intractable problems, strengthen individuals and communities, and contribute to a better world.
The Oregon State Engineer publication illustrates — through storytelling — our world-class faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, our students’ stellar achievements at home and abroad, and the willingness of our partners to support our various programs through significant financial investments. The publication highlights some of our most innovative research programs in materials science, sustainable energy solutions, resilient infrastructure, and robotics. It explains how our students are excelling with the help of our supportive faculty, international partnerships, and programs that encourage innovative thinking, experiential learning, team building, and cross-cultural collaboration. And it demonstrates that we have a strong base of major donors who give back in gratitude to support our facilities and programs. It captures concisely what differentiates Oregon State University's College of Engineering from other engineering institutions.
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has named both 2014 and 2015 The Oregon State Engineer publications silver award winners of its Circle of Excellence awards program.
