ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
TENURE TRACK
IN THE BROAD AREA OF INTERNET OF THINGS
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) in the College of Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position with a start date of fall quarter, 2017. We desire candidates in the area of the Internet of Things with emphasis on aspects of signal processing, communication networks, embedded systems, sensors, and/or circuit and systems. Highest priority will be given to exceptional candidates regardless of the specific areas listed above. Information about the department can be found on the web at http://www.ece.ucsb.edu.
The ECE department is ranked among the top four ECE departments in the Nation according to the National Research Council rankings. The faculty comprise 2 Nobel Laureates and 11 National Academy of Engineering members. More than half of the ECE department faculty are IEEE Fellows.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, and demonstrate the ability to develop a highly successful independent research program, and participate effectively in the teaching of the ECE curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We will consider candidates with backgrounds and interests in any area of electrical and computer engineering, including emerging and interdisciplinary areas which have strong overlap with ECE. Completed applications will consist of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement (2-page limit), statement of research interests (3-page limit), and names and contact information of three references; applicants may also choose to submit a statement of diversity contributions.
The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
