CLINICAL DATA ANALYST GRADUATE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY (LEGACY HEALTH)



TITLE:​​​DATA ANALYST INTERN

REPORTS TO:​​DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL RESEARCH

DEPARTMENT:​CLINICAL OUTCOMES RESEARCH



JOB SUMMARY:

Data Analyst Interns will be members of the Clinical Outcomes Research (COR) team at the Legacy Research Institute (LRI) within Legacy Health.  They will provides data management and data handling expertise in support of a new clinical outcomes research program, involving biocomputing, data analysis and interpretation.  They will act as a liaison between Legacy Health IT and the LRI COR team to facilitate access to data for research purposes.  They will work collaboratively with clinical staff and members of the COR team including the Senior Clinical Outcomes Research Scientist, Manager of Clinical Research, Regulatory Compliance Coordinator, and others.  They will contribute to the development of research proposals, progress reports, grant applications, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

The duration of the internship will be 3-6 months by mutual agreement, with potential for extension. Starting date will be within the first or second quarters of 2017 by mutual agreement.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced degree, M.S. or Ph.D., or progress towards completion of an advanced degree with an emphasis in data science or data analytics with a background in biology, biomedicine, physiology, or a related field.



REQUIRED SKILLS:

Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, Office productivity tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), database tools (mysql, sql, or Access), programming tools (Python, Java, or ideally both).



PREFERRED SKILLS:

Basic knowledge of the health care environment, experience with Electronic Medical Records (Epic a plus), experience with EMR query tools (WebI a plus), command line tools, big data / distributed computing, machine learning tools (CART, Random Forests, SVMs, etc.), and statistical tools (R or S-Plus).
