The description and qualifications are:
The RF Design Engineer is expected to develop high performance Si-based ICs for communications systems covering baseband to millimeter waves as part of an experienced team. Responsibilities include contributions to product definition, transistor-level cell design of key circuit blocks (LNAs, mixers, VCOs, drivers, VGAs, filters, etc..), simulation of electrical performance, layout supervision, parasitic extraction and verification through tape-out. The candidate will also develop product evaluation plans and support data sheet development all the way to product release. The candidate must feel confident in pursuing challenging goals with innovative technical solutions.
Selected candidate should have a detailed understanding of the fundamentals of IC and RF design:
- Trade-offs in the design of RF building blocks
- Impedance matching, tuning with lumped and distributed elements
- Concepts such as NF, IP3, s-parameters, distortion, phase noise
- Time domain and harmonic balance simulation
- Radio architectures & Basic Communications Systems
- Biasing Techniques
- Operational and transconductance amplifiers
- Familiarity with CMOS and/or SiGe BiCMOS technologies for high speed design
- Experience with Design Flow, schematic capture
- Layout verification and parasitic extraction
- Electromagnetic field simulation experience is a bonus
