Requisition # 23172
The Extreme Blue(tm) program is IBM's premier internship program for top-notch students pursuing software development and MBA degrees.

Once selected into the program, you will become part of a team working in one of our two US labs, in Austin TX or Durham NC. Your team's challenge is to develop the technology and business plan for a new product or service that addresses an existing market challenge.

Through the program, interns have submitted more than 450 patent disclosures and have made more than sixty contributions to the open source community. They helped create solutions for key clients and bring-to-market the next generation of IBM products. Not bad for just 12 weeks of work.

Unlike other intern programs that may relegate you to work on outdated technology, the Extreme Blue teams work on leading technology that helps grow your skills and evolve you into a more attractive candidate in the technology field. Interns in this high-performance environment get to roll up their sleeves and work with "hot" technologies such as Cloud Computing, Web 2.0, and petabyte-scale data analysis.

We are currently looking for technical candidates for our Purestack project located in Austin, Texas.

The PureStack Extreme Blue project will be leveraging the cutting edge Openstack open source project, an industry wide leader in cloud technology, IAAS, in order to help provide IBM technology with the ability to further enhance its cloud portfolio. You will work with subject matter experts from IBM's Linux Technology center, which is known world wide as leaders in Linux & Open Source development communities.

You will bring enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, experience with virtualization, and be fluent with Linux installation and configuration. Since OpenStack is written in python, experience in this language is also important, with work in another object oriented language as a fallback. Prior participation in an open source project is a strong plus.

Other good to have skills: REST web services, Open Source Development, Git, Cloud

Required:
*             High School Diploma/GED
* Basic knowledge in Use Programming Languages
