Systems integration Engineer Intern Job Description

Job Summary
The intern position works within engineering under the guidance of one or more senior engineers to provide assistance to internal customers by architecting, evaluating, designing, integrating, testing and documenting leading-edge hardware and software security technologies for identity and physical access control management systems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

*         Research, evaluate, configure, integrate, and test 3rd party hardware/software products as part of Eid Passport's access and identity management solution suite.

*         Effectively diagnose and resolve problems involving the integration of technologies and products used in Eid solutions.

*         Create integration and configuration documentation suitable for conversion into manufacturing and maintenance plans.

*         Evaluate and create methods to integrate new technologies and products into the Eid product line.

*         Define evaluation procedures and matrices as well as create automated evaluation tools as needed.

*         Provide assembly & build documentation, operational procedures and field guides.

*         Assist the engineering team with system / software development projects and provide production support





Secondary Duties/Responsibilities

Competencies/Qualifications

*         Experience with Microsoft Office products strongly desired.

*         Be able to learn one or more programming languages and frameworks.
*         Familiarity with Microsoft .NET (C#) and / or willing to unlearn the evils of Java is a big plus.

*         No fear of soldering irons, small hand tools or the occasional burst of accidental lightning.
*         Experience with any of the following equipment is a plus: biometric capture/reader devices, kiosks, wireless (802.11) networks & access points, wireless handheld computers (i.e. Symbol, Intermec), wireless internet (cellular modem) devices, small form-factor and embedded PCs.
*         Quick to learn basics of mechanical / electrical drawing.
*         Interest and acumen to quickly ramp up on new and emergent technologies.
*         Ability to describe how to creatively implement a NERF(tm) gun, a couple software hacks and an assortment of cheap plastic toys into a fully automatic range-finding weapons system capable of turning undead project managers away from entering the sanctity of the lab would be a big plus.

*         Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Electronics engineering or other technical discipline is required.

*         Federal contracts require that our employees be a US citizen
